Easter Weekend

I got these Resurrection Eggs last year after Easter so I was excited to finally bust them out Friday evening.  Each egg has a little figure in them that goes along with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  The kids got to open one at a time as they corresponded with the story.  Clara and David LOVED opening the eggs!  The book that came with it was a little wordy for my kids' current ages, but I know they both got something out of hearing it.  Clara listened very intently to most of it (when they weren't worried about who's turn it was to open the next egg). ;)  When we talked about the whip, crown of thorns and Jesus' death Davey laid his head down each time and said, "That makes me sad."  But at the end of the story we were all cheering, "He is risen!  He is alive!"

One of the first figures was a cup from the last supper.  Right away David says, "It's the Piston Cup!"  Cars reference. :)  hahaha  Needless to say we had to explain that one!

We gave Clara and Davey their Easter baskets Saturday morning.  We didn't want to do it Sunday morning because we knew we'd be heading out the door to church and that they were going to want to play with all their goodies!  I had so much fun this past month thinking of and picking up little things for their baskets.  I was so so soo excited to give them to the kids.  Seriously, I'm not sure who was more excited, me or the kids. ;)  Each family has to decide what they spend their time and money on, in other words what they value as a family.  We LOVE birthdays and holidays around here and I love making these days extra special for my little family!  If others don't celebrate in the same way as us, that's ok!  But this is what we love.

There were a lot of squeals and giggles...  The kids were happy, too. ;) haha

Grandpa, Grandma & Emily came to visit for Easter!

Easter egg hunt time!

Love them so!

Opening their surprise eggs!  I decided to only do a little candy this year and filled the eggs with other fun things.

Clara neatly placed all her prizes in little piles: safari figures, palace pals and candy.  Davey just ate the candy as he opened it until we cut him off.  Haha

Grandma & Clara

We dyed eggs before supper. :)

Auntie Em is the best.

Success!

Grandma and Grandpa gave the kids little Easter baskets Sunday morning. :)

There are seriously moments that I can hardly believe they're mine and that I get to be their mama.  Love these cuties!

Sunday afternoon was gorgeous!

Sunday evening we went to my mom's for supper.  The kids had a blast jumping on the trampoline.

My mom also did an Easter egg hunt for her grandkids!

Trying to get a picture with Grandma...  Davey had a mouthful of candy and was pretty over pictures at that point.  My mom looks so pretty.

But then we somehow got this picture of them with Atika on Skype. :)

Phew!  What a wonderful Easter weekend!  So thankful for time with family and most of all for the hope we have in Jesus!

Life Lately

Clara and Davey have always loved playing in the laundry basket.  It's a great place to pretend.

For example, here they are driving the car. ;)

Saturday we went to Kidtopia for their Easter egg hunt.  The eggs all had numbers in them that the kids got to redeem for prizes.  They had super good prizes considering this was a massive egg hunt open to the public.  We will definitely go again next year if they have it again.

Every time we've been to this toy store Clara spends all her time playing with this Calico Critters house. :)

Clara also got a little puppy she named Sparkles.  It came with a little purse to carry her around in.  Sparkles has rarely left her side since she got her.  Watch out, Ducky! ;)

Davey got a cardboard fire truck set.

Clara has been working on this mosaic all week.  It was great for practicing her number recognition.

We've also been outside about every day this week.  Some days have been beautiful and warm, others windy, but we've had fun either way.

This was the most gorgeous day this week.  We were out playing in the morning so it was still a little cool, hence the sweaters.

My little rock climbers.  And yes, they are wearing their snow boots!  We had yet to buy them play shoes this spring that fit but have since so now we're ready for all the playing!

This day was super windy so we hung out close to our apartment to block the wind and did sidewalk chalk.

That's all for pictures lately.  Not a whole lot has been going on.  We're excited to celebrate Easter this weekend!  Michael's parents and sister are coming to visit.  We're going to do the Resurrection Eggs with the kids this evening.  Then tomorrow we're giving them their Easter baskets, decorating eggs and doing an egg hunt.  Then church and family time on Sunday!  We're so thankful for the good news of Jesus!
