January Book Review

I love a good book and I have a ton of books on my list I'm wanting to read, so I decided to start reading more again.  I thought it would be fun to share what I'm reading each month this year with some brief thoughts on each book.  I'd love to get more book recommendations from anyone who cares to share them.

My hubby got me this book for Christmas and I was so surprised because this book was on my list, but I had never mentioned anything about it to him.  He said he was just browsing the books at Target and thought it sounded like one I'd like. #pointsforhubby

I really enjoyed this book!  It centers around a blended, complicated family at Christmas time with a little romance thrown in for good measure.  If you know me at all, you know I love all things Christmas, so the Christmas setting was a win right away.  It's an easy read, and ended with a cliffhanger as it has a sequel, Winter Stroll.  Now I'm really looking forward to reading that one next month.

My friend Katie started a book club this month and this was our first book.  It was getting close to our meeting time to hang out and discuss the book, and since I hadn't had a chance to start it yet I decided to get the Audible version so I could multitask and still get the book "read."  This was my first Audible experience and I have mixed feelings about it.  While the content of this book was so important and a few parts of it really struck a cord with me, I didn't love listening to it.  I'm not sure if I would have enjoyed the book more if I had read it myself, or if it would have been a hard book to get through and therefore listening to it made it easier to complete.

This is the third book I've read by Candace Cameron Bure and what can I say, I just like her.  Full House was my favorite show back in the day, and I'm so excited for the reboot Fuller House to come out on Netflix in February.  I rooted for Candace during her season on Dancing with the Stars, so it was fun to read about her experience first hand on the show and all of the life lessons she learned along the way.  She's very inspiring to me and is always pointing her readers toward Jesus.  In fact, by the end of the book I wasn't even thinking about the dance competition anymore and I was just thinking about my relationship with Jesus.  Several chapters in I realized that she had signed my book! :)  Michael also ordered me this book as a surprise gift several months ago knowing that I'd read her first two books.  I'm glad I finally got around to reading it!

Heather & Haddie Jo's Baby Showers

We celebrated the birth of my niece Haddie Jo with a baby shower on November 7th.  My sweet Grandpa Bisson would have been 100 years old that day.  So it was an extra special day and it was so nice to be with my Grandma on his birthday.  My mom took care of the food and games while I was in charge of the invitations and decorations.  Thanks so much to my aunt Beth for opening her beautiful home and hosting and thanks to my other aunts that contributed to the shower expenses.  Love my family!

I decided on a pink and grey color scheme.

I picked out these Gerber daisies and my aunt Elizabeth offered to pay for them.  We used them for decoration at the shower, but then we brought them to my Grandpa's gravesite after the shower for his birthday.

Heather's mom, sister-in-law, and nephew and niece joined us. :)

We love our Grandma!

These pictures of Haddie Jo with her Great-Grandma Bisson are priceless!

Grandma, my mom, my kiddos, Elizabeth, and I brought the flowers out to Grandpa's gravesite after the shower and we sang him happy birthday. :)

I had the urge to just lay down where my Grandpa was buried.  He was so special to me and I miss him so much.  My mom picked up my camera and snapped this picture.  Happy 100th birthday Grandpa!

The weekend before, Mom, Clara and I went to Heather and Haddie's shower for her side of family and friends.

Clara carried all the gifts over to the table for Heather to open. :)  She's such a good helper.
