January Book Review

I love a good book and I have a ton of books on my list I'm wanting to read, so I decided to start reading more again.  I thought it would be fun to share what I'm reading each month this year with some brief thoughts on each book.  I'd love to get more book recommendations from anyone who cares to share them.

My hubby got me this book for Christmas and I was so surprised because this book was on my list, but I had never mentioned anything about it to him.  He said he was just browsing the books at Target and thought it sounded like one I'd like. #pointsforhubby

I really enjoyed this book!  It centers around a blended, complicated family at Christmas time with a little romance thrown in for good measure.  If you know me at all, you know I love all things Christmas, so the Christmas setting was a win right away.  It's an easy read, and ended with a cliffhanger as it has a sequel, Winter Stroll.  Now I'm really looking forward to reading that one next month.

My friend Katie started a book club this month and this was our first book.  It was getting close to our meeting time to hang out and discuss the book, and since I hadn't had a chance to start it yet I decided to get the Audible version so I could multitask and still get the book "read."  This was my first Audible experience and I have mixed feelings about it.  While the content of this book was so important and a few parts of it really struck a cord with me, I didn't love listening to it.  I'm not sure if I would have enjoyed the book more if I had read it myself, or if it would have been a hard book to get through and therefore listening to it made it easier to complete.

This is the third book I've read by Candace Cameron Bure and what can I say, I just like her.  Full House was my favorite show back in the day, and I'm so excited for the reboot Fuller House to come out on Netflix in February.  I rooted for Candace during her season on Dancing with the Stars, so it was fun to read about her experience first hand on the show and all of the life lessons she learned along the way.  She's very inspiring to me and is always pointing her readers toward Jesus.  In fact, by the end of the book I wasn't even thinking about the dance competition anymore and I was just thinking about my relationship with Jesus.  Several chapters in I realized that she had signed my book! :)  Michael also ordered me this book as a surprise gift several months ago knowing that I'd read her first two books.  I'm glad I finally got around to reading it!
